USING GROUND COVERS
Ground cover can be used as a facer for a shrub border, at the base of a flowering tree or as an edging along a garden path. Underplanted with spring bulbs and perennials, it can be further enhanced. With it, one can solve problems with soil or slope retention; or it can serve as an alternative where shade, tree roots or excessive maintenance prohibits lawn. Don't limit yourself, use the different perennials, grasses and shrubs listed below. The Annabelle Hydrangea used as a ground cover in a shade garden maintains a woodland character and delicately blends with the hosta, fern and wildflowers.
