Phil brings more than two decades of experience in grounds maintenance and landscape management, supported by a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture from Illinois State University. His career has been built on a strong technical foundation, leadership, and a long-standing commitment to creating and maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces.

He began his career with Green View as a Construction Foreman on the maintenance team, a role he held until 2010. From there, Phil expanded his experience as Director of Grounds for the Dominican Sisters of Springfield, where he oversaw the care and development of their landscape. Most recently, he spent six years with the University of Illinois Springfield’s Grounds Department, managing large-scale, campus-wide landscapes and further refining his expertise.

Now back at Green View as the Grounds Maintenance Account Manager for Springfield, Phil brings his experience full circle. In his role, he focuses on delivering thoughtful, detail-oriented service and building strong relationships with clients. He especially enjoys working on enhancement projects, where additions like plantings, mulching, and strategic pruning can elevate the overall appearance and impact of a property.

Phil believes that successful landscape projects start with listening. By taking the time to fully understand each client’s needs and goals, he ensures the end result aligns with their vision and expectations. His approach is rooted in clear communication, practical solutions, and consistent execution.

Among his favorite landscape elements is the serviceberry, a plant he appreciates for its four-season interest and versatility in a variety of settings.

Outside of work, Phil enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children. He takes pride in supporting them as they pursue their interests in academics, arts, and sports, and values the time they spend together as a family.
